Pregnancy Update- Week 16

I had my 16 week check up with the OBGYN today, and realized that I have no updated on my pregnancy...here is what is going on!

How I am feeling-
I am feeling generally pretty good, hello 2nd trimester!  Still tired, still peeing a lot, and starting with the round ligament pains in my lower abdomen/hips area... but really I feel good!  Even the took brush nausea is not as bas as last time.  I still get it some days, but it is not as consistent.

Things that are different from last pregnancy-
I feel like I am very different this pregnancy.  Here are some of the noticeable changes....

1.  I am eating much better.  I still have dessert most nights and will give in the my food cravings.  But I am much more aware of what I am eating throughout the day.  I am trying to eat "natures foods" as much as possible, lots of fruits and veggies.  I also try to limit processed foods.  As a general rule, I get to cheat and give it to my cravings as long as I also eat something good and natural to balance things out.

2.  No more fast food!  With my first pregnancy, I ate McDonald's way more than I should admit.  I would drive home from work and be starving, but it was to early for dinner.  So frequently I would stop for a small treat from a drive through to hold me over.  I am not perfect this pregnancy, but I am MUCH better.  I have only had McDonald's once and I felt gross when I was done.

3.  I am not following the rules as strictly as I did the first time.  Still no sushi or soft cheeses or alcohol (other than the tiny sip of the friend sitting next to me's drink, just to get the taste haha), but most other things I have been following the moderation is key motto.  I have had a few hot dogs this summer, I had cold cuts twice, I am eating peanuts and peanut butter (last pregnancy I totally avoided it and ended up with a son with peanut/tree nut allergies... what the hell.  Plus I have had follow up conversations with all of Ryan's specialists and they feel strongly that eating peanut products does not cause allergies, their is much more behind the science of the immune system.  Anyway, nuts have a lot of great nutrients that your body needs when pregnant).

4.  I am continuing to workout through this pregnancy so far (and hope to continue as long as I can).  I still run a few times a week, I just don't go for as long.  And I still workout at All-Star twice a week, I just modify the parts that I can't do.  Starting in 2 weeks I am going to start prenatal yoga.  So I will have the cardio with the running, strength training at the gym, and stretching/core/labor preparation with the yoga.  I think its a good balance!

5.  Like all moms say, I think about being pregnant much less.  Its always on my mind, but I'm not as obsessed as I was with the first pregnancy.  Life is going on.... we are super busy... Ryan is super active... I don't have time to sit around and be pregnant.  But I do squeeze in the occasional nap if I am home with Ryan during nap time.

Preparation-
I have a list of things I want to do in preparation for this baby, but I haven't really done any of it.  I am going to enjoy my summer and then get focused in September.  Here are some things I am thinking about...
1.  Order new furniture for Ryan's big boy room so that the current furniture can be for the baby
2.  Christmas shop and wrap super early so that I do not have to do it while 9 months pregnant
3.  Work on an Amazon wish list of the things we will need for new baby (I did actually start working on this last week)
4.  Get bedding/decor for the new nursery (I am going with a gray and white baby elephant theme)
5.  Take birthing classes (Hypnobirthing or Bradley classes)
6.  Sell our house and move into new house :)  Wishful thinking!

Random-

*We are not finding out the sex of the baby again, but we could in 2 weeks if we wanted to.
*We are playing the name game but nothing is decided yet (Patrick, Christopher, Reagan, Charlotte???)
*I am already panicking about having a MUCH shorter maternity leave than I had with Ryan.  Besides the home move I think this is the biggest stress I have with the new baby coming.  More about this another day.
* I feel like I am getting bigger, faster with this baby.  Normal for 2nd pregnancy, right?
*I am really really  missing my cocktails!  Summer is a touch time to give up drinking!

Praying for a buyer

In addition to a new exciting pregnancy and baby planning, we are also still in the selling our home/buying a new home process.  Lots of crazy (nerve wracking) things going on in our house.

Here is the update...

We put our current home on the market about 7 weeks ago (yep I was 7 weeks pregnant when we started this).  The good news is we have had a decent amount of traffic coming to see it.  The feedback has been good... Good price, shows well, nice floor plan... But they don't love the location on a busier road.  The bad news is no offers or serious buyers.

I'm getting a little bit anxious because this is the last piece of the puzzle.  Everything else is lined up. We are in contract for the new property and home, we have the floor plan, and the builder said he is ready to start as soon as we are are under contract with our current home.   I feel like I can't take a breathe and be excited about this new home until we finalize it by selling the 757 Coolidge ave!

Right now it's a waiting game, but I'm hoping and praying (and asking anyone to join me in the praying) that we get a buyer soon so that mike and I can start planning and preparing for the next step!  Then the real fun begins... Packing our house, moving into a temporary home, picking out options and colors for the new home... And oh yea all while getting more and more pregnant!

I promise that I won't let the anxiety of not knowing where we will be living in January when the baby is born totally stress me out.  It's all going to fall into place and we will have a place to sleep at night and I just have to be excited about all of these dreams coming true all at one time!

But seriously, I'm PRAYING we get a buyer and sell our house very soon!  Lets get this project started.

Ryan- 28 months

It's been awhile since I have given a Ryan update.  Here are some highlights of  what's been going on.

- Suddenly he is super clingy and is always saying "I neeeed my mommy/daddy"
-  Ryan has become a talker. His vocab has gotten much better and he talks non-stop!
-" Why" and "what are you doing" are his favorite questions
- thanks to the puddle jumper, he is loving the pool
- soccer, baseball, and golf are his favorite sports
- suddenly he has an imagination. Playing pretend is a strength
-  I'm amazed by his memory, nothing gets by him
- like I posted earlier we are moving to a big boy bed tonight
- he is showing interest in potty training, but we are holding off for now
- he keeps asking to go back to disney world, but he knows he has to " save his money"
- he is excited about the baby in mommy's belly and likes looking at pictures from when I was pregnant with him
- a summer favorite is going to the beach with his friends
- Gigi and pop  got him his first real bike, and he is practicing everyday
- we have found a few new allergy friendly foods so he has finally had pizza and ice cream
- I feel like he is sick with these little virus' a lot... Croup, fevers, etc.  not sure what's going on but it seems like he is frequently battling something
-  generally speaking, he is a super good 2 year old.  He is fun and social and silly and well behaved (most of the time lol)

I guess that's it for now. I love my bubba!

Moving into a big boy bed!

Ahh I'm nervous. Tonight will be Ryan's first night trying a big boy bed (well to clarify, we are just taking the front off of his crib to make it a toddler bed). I'm a bit worried because he is not climbing out of his crib or showing any need to move into a bed, but for logistic reasons its time to make the change.

This is why we decided its time...

- he is almost 2 1/2 years old.

- We are going to obx for a week in August and currently he is not sleeping well in a pack n play. I think we need to get him comfortable on mattress before the trip.

- There will be many transitions happening in Ryan's life (well all of our lives) in the next 6 months. Hopefully moving into a temporary house, then moving into our new home, starting preschool, potty training, and of course a new baby... I need to make the crib switch at some point during all of this chaos. I really feel like making that change now while we are still in our home and a room he is comfortable in, is the smartest decision. That way he is comfortable in a big boy bed before we move and set up his new big boy bed.

- I picked tonight for 1 reason only. I need it to be at a time when we have a couple of nights/days in a row that we are home for nap and bedtime. With our crazy schedule he is with my in-laws on Mondays and Thursdays and my aunt on Wednesdays, and sometimes a babysitter on Tuesdays... So Thursday night-Sunday is our only good stretch. If I want to make this happen before vacation I need to suck it up and make the move.

So even though I'm nervous that it will change everything and we won't be getting much sleep at first... Tonight we give it a try!!

A few pictures of what I hope was his last night in the crib!

Mama's due with baby #2!

Woo hooo I'm excited to make the official announcement that we are expecting our second child.  I am due January 10, 2014 and am currently 12 weeks/5 days pregnant.  I was waiting til my 12 week doctors appointment before writing my first post, and as of Friday everything looks good.

How I found out-
Mike and I started officially trying back in January, so I was pretty aware of my body and my cycle. Twice I had convinced myself that I was pregnant (phantom symptoms I guess) and was VERY disappointed with a negative test or getting my lovely period friend.  When April came around I tried so hard not to stress and just relax and enjoy the process.  My period was due on around May 1-3.  On May 5 I decided it was time to take another test.

Mike was going to be gone all day with Ryan, so I took a test on my own, half prepared for another BFN. When the words POSITIVE came up on my little pee stick I was beyond excited.  I immediately did another test just to be sure.  Yay another BFP.  Now the problem is that I had to spend all day having this big news and no one to tell!

How I told mike-

You would think that I had all day to plan something that I would come up with a cute announcement for mike and Ryan.... Nope!  I just couldn't come up with the right idea.  My plan was just to make mike a nice dinner and tell him while we ate.  That didn't work either. When the boys got home Ryan was sick and miserable. He spent the rest of the evening laying on my chest, falling in and out of a cranky sleep.  So I didn't make dinner, and I spent a few hours on the couch.  After a little while of mike sitting next to me I couldn't keep it a secret anymore.  I looked at him and whispered something random about "going to the grocery store and buying peas and thinking how crazy it is that the baby in my belly is the size of a pea!"  Haha I know, random.  Mike looked and me and said "what does that mean?"  I confirmed I was pregnant and mike was very excited, but he did look at me and say "is that seriously how you decided to tell me".  The best part of it was at that moment Ryan looked up at me with watery eyes and a boogery nose and said "baby in your belly?"  It was super cute that he understood what we were talking about.

How we tod friends and family-

Thanks to Pinterest I knew I want to take some cute pictures of Ryan to use as announcement.  On Mother's Day after our family left our brunch, we set up a Ryan photo shoot.  I used a chalk theme and came up with 3 different photo options and then we just started taking tons of pictures in hopes of a few good ones.  Here are some examples of the photo shoot:

Then we used the picture to tell our families at about 7 weeks and friends at 8/9 weeks.  Everyone seemed sincerely excited for our growing family

The first trimester-

I know I'm not out of it officially yet, but thank god I'm starting to feel better.  Weeks 5-10 were rough!!  I had awful morning (all day) sickness and awful fatigue.  I felt like I had a severe hangover all day long.  Keeping up with my bouncing 2 year old and working my 3 jobs became very difficult.  In addition to those lovely symptoms I also started with not being able to sleep through the night.  I wake up every 2 hours to pee and have a hard time falling back to sleep.   This time around I also got a case of the super sore boobs.  I couldn't believe how bad they hurt.  It was almost the feeling of when I was engorged back in my nursing days.  Lastly, I had a good case of IBS.  So much fun.

As of this week, the nausea has gotten better, the fatigue is improving, my boobs feel better, and the IBS is under control.  The trouble sleeping and night time pee is here to stay.  And the dreaded can't brush my teeth without throwing up issue from my first pregnancy is back.  I was hoping this would skip me this time!

CRAVINGS- sweets, chocolate, apple pie, s'mores, cookies, dessert!!  I definitely have a sweet tooth and spend most of my day planning dessert!  Other than that, generally I just ean towards carbs.  Especially when I was sick, bagels, crackers, pasta where easy on my stomach.  I felt like as long as I kept eating all day, it would help me avoid getting sick.

Stats-

My starting weight - 105
Current weight- 108
Baby's heart rate at 12 weeks- 168
