I could post about many if the updates going in in the Taynor house these days... Life has been busy... BUT instead I'm going to tell you about our perfect start to summer. Sometimes I need to remember to take a step back, relax, and enjoy all the great little moments.
Yesterday was the first day of summer and it was a beautiful day! In the morning I took Ryan, joined by Kelli and Noah, to Emery Farm for some blueberry picking. It was really a great morning. The boys ate about as many blueberries as they could, while Kelli and I filled our buckets to bring home. We spent most of the time yelling "only eat the blue ones, not the green ones!" because they were just shoveling fist fills into their mouths. We ended the morning by visiting the animals on the farm (which Ryan loved of course).
Later that evening I had book club with the girls. As always it was nice to get out and hang with the girls. To make it even better, everyone read the book so we were able to have a really good "book discussion". I know, I'm a dork!
Then this morning we woke up with no plans at all. I think this is the only Saturday of the entire summer that I can actually say that. So I decided to spend the day pool side with my boys. We swam, snacked, built sand castles in the sandbox, swam some more. Yep it was a perfect day. Ryan took a nice long nap and then was out swimming again in the afternoon.
Then I actually made dinner (shocking I know) while the boys were out front washing the cars. Daddy and Ryan got lots of bonding time today... I love when that happens :)
We finished off the day by spending some mommy and daddy time sitting out back by the fire eating apple pie with vanilla ice cream.
And we are not done yet... Tomorrow Mike is off to play golf and we are headed to the beach. I'll say it again, what a perfect start to the summer!
Now maybe tomorrow night I'll sit down to do a real blog post with pictures!
